About Welfresh Taiwanese Gourmet
Welfresh Taiwanese Gourmet is a taiwanese restaurant in Sugar Land, Texas. It is listed at 4635 Hwy 6, Sugar Land, TX 77478, which places it among the local businesses of Sugar Land that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Sugar Land; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Texas are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Sugar Land is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Getting around Sugar Land is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Texas's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I recently revisited this restaurant for the second time, remembering how much I enjoyed it during my first visit and the good prices. As one of the few Taiwanese spots in the area, it had left a strong impression. We ordered the popcorn chicken over rice, ribs over rice and beef noodle soup. The popcorn chicken was good, well cooked and not overpoweringly salty. One thing I would change is this amount of bread crumbs used but overall the meat was good. The rice had a weird taste and just didnβt feel clean. The vegetables were okay, tasted similar to the rice, had a weird taste. The marinated egg could have more flavor but it was good. The ribs were good, a little dry but well seasoned. Same thing with the popcorn chicken, rice and vegetables had weird flavor. The beef noodle soup was okay. Braised beef had good flavor, noodles had that same weird taste as rice and vegetables. The broth was okay tasted a little like tapwater, also had a faint taste of the weird flavor. What stood out to me was the service. The service was phenomenal. The workers were super friendly and attentive. They offered free drinks like soft drinks and a coffee. I didnβt get the coffee but I heard another cus

Edited: Owner changed and the taste is not Taiwanese anymore. Authentic Taiwanese rice bowl flavors, just like home-cooked meals in Taiwan. Itβs not fancy or refined, but itβs comforting, hearty food. Located inside Welfresh Supermarket, you can place your order, shop around, and come back for your takeout. They also offer options like red tortoise cake, side dishes, and drinks. The rice bowls are packed with variety. For those who prefer hot dishes, be sure to go during meal timesβwe went in the afternoon, and the food was only available cold. The fried stinky tofu is very popular, and I love their chicken cutlet rice bowl. Unfortunately, theyβll be temporarily closing after 11/6, so if you want to try it, come soon, or youβll have to wait for the ownerβs next plan.

Food not bad at all. Itβs the not the best nor itβs bad. Tawian beef noodle soup was ok, beef was great tender but the soup could add more favor. The Stinky Tofu was great and the favor was just right after I added spicy. The restaurant is inside the Asian grocery store on the right. Service was good but have to order at the cashier and then they will bring it to you. Cleanliness is ok due to setting in the grocery store. Over all I would come back but wonβt get the Beef noodle soup and just get Stinky Tofu and try other dishes.

Update- omg the counter guy isnβt eh front was super sweet. He heard we wanted more soup for the beef noodle soup and he added more broth!!!! TLDR: In this economy? This is my #1 no frill, good-old-asian food in a supermarket. I got the Gyudon (comes with sides) so freaking good. I love the variety. 100/10 11.99 itβs a great value. The beef noodle, whatβs the complaint? Maybe itβs not as good as the Old Place Cafes thatβs around her but itβs honestly a good price too. Also never heard of water being a feeβ¦. Free water and tea :)

I'm giving this place 2 stars only. I visit this place quite often, however this will change. I understand they give out big portions on their fried pork chop bento box, but the side dish is a joke! Most of their side dishes are veggies and they aren't even fresh. The stir fry tomatoes with eggs that has no eggs and the seaweeds are slimy and the marinade egg isn't fresh either. Don't even get me started on the broccoli. My son loves eggs and he told me they don't taste and smell right and he's correct! Trash it goes. I wished they would put more quality than quantity. For $9.50 per fried pork chop, is a no to me.
